****** BOIL ORDER HAS BEEN LIFTED 5/22/23 ******
                 Water testing has returned clear
Cass County Water System Users Only
NO City of Dowagiac or Village of Cassopolis Customers were affected

What do you do next?
Lower than normal pressure, anywhere in the system, may result a discoloration/sedimentation in the water, anywhere in the system.

We advises customers flush  their home water lines.

  • Turn on your outside spigots, or the first bathtub fixture in the home connected to the public water supply.
  • Run COLD water for 15 minutes, or until the water runs clear.  In some cases, it may take multiple attempts and/or running water for a longer period to clear.
  • Avoid running hot water until you have flushed you line.  This will keep sediment from enter your water heater.
  • Avoid doing laundry until your line runs clean. Depending on timing/use, flushing of the water heater may also be required.
  • It can be assured that the water color does not pose any public health concerns, it is only aesthetic, caused by sediment in the mains that is stirred up due to the initial system flushing and or the recent repair.

*** BOIL NOTICE UPDATE 5/20/23. 11:30 pm ***
On Sunday, May 21, an emergency repair may impact water pressure in the Vandalia area. With abundant caution in mind, the boil order will stay in place until the repair is completed.

DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST.
Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should
be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food.

Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Continue using boiled or bottled water until further notice. Laboratory analysis will be complete in approximately

What happened? What is being done?
These precautionary actions are being taken due to an additional repair required after the loss of water pressure in the CCWS distribution system caused by hydrant flushing performed Friday.

Whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, precautionary measures are recommended.

This is a precautionary measure to ensure safe drinking water.
This boil water notice shall remain in effect until results from the sampling verify the water is safe to drink.

Customers will be advised when the boil water advisory has been lifted. Test results will be completed within 24 hours of the repair.
