Dowagiac Police Department

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Dowagiac Police Department is to enforce the law and create an environment of safety and security for all of the people who live, work and visit in the City of Dowagiac.

Vision Statement:

The Dowagiac Police Department will be an organization in which each employee embraces integrity as the cornerstone upon which the public trust is built.  We will foster an environment of honesty, trust and respect in which the department and community work together for positive change.

The Dowagiac Police Department is committed to its members upholding the values of honesty, integrity, respect, professionalism, accountability, service and compassion at their highest levels in each and every citizen interaction.

Current Strength

The Dowagiac Police Department has a current strength of twelve Sworn Officers, one civilian Administrative Assistant and three Crossing Guards.  There are currently eight officers assigned to the patrol division that work 12-hour shifts.  There are always two officers on duty in the patrol division 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  The department has one Detectives assigned to the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team, or CCDET.  The department also has K9Cash.
