Water Sewer Operations Superintendent-Applications accepted until filled.

The City of Dowagiac is accepting applications for the non-union position of Water Sewer Operations Superintendent.  The Superintendent supervises, directs, and coordinates all work activities associated with water and sewer utilities, provides written and oral reports and recommendations, and supports daily crew activities.   The Superintendent will coordinate labor and equipment for daily tasks and projects.  The Superintendent will also work with the Public Services Director to manage various projects and activities including monitoring labor, equipment and material budgets.  Major duties include organizing, managing, scheduling, and implementing maintenance, repair, construction, operations activities, and maintaining regulatory compliance related to city water distribution infrastructure, sanitary sewer collection infrastructure, storm sewer and drainage infrastructure, and other like duties. The ideal applicant will be professional, courteous and exhibit excellent communication with working crews, other staff and the public.  A college/university degree in engineering, construction management, natural sciences, parks & recreation, business, public administration or other related technical field is preferred.   All applicants considered will have at least 5 years of proven experience in administering water distribution, sewer collection, storm sewer systems or other similar public works and utilities operations.

$24.35-$31.66 per hour, starting wage.  This is an hourly non-exempt position.
