Moving
into the residential district, follow West Division just one
block west to Green Street. Heading North on Green Street are

Across
Telegraph Street as you climb the small hill, to your left is
the Gardner Mansion, or
The Maples as it was nicknamed. It was built in 1898 for A.
B. Gardner, grandson of P. D. Beckwith, the founder of the Round
Oak Furnace Company. The carriage house and servants quarters
were built in the rear to match the style. Note the original
red tile roof, a solarium, and stained glass windows. The home
was once converted to apartments, but its current owners have
restored it to its original splendor |
| Green
Street circles the property and ends at Martin Luther King Jr.
Drive. Turning south on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and continuing
to West Street you will pass the original manufacturing facility
of the Heddon Bait Company that now houses the Heddon
Museum as well as serving as a manufacturing facility
for a local corporation |
