The City of Dowagiac is accepting applications for the seasonal, part-time position of School Crossing Guard. Scheduled times to report/show for crossings are:
Morning: 8:15 to 9:00 Lunch: 11:40 to 12:15 Afternoon: 3:30 to 4:00
Hours may be subject to change depending upon need. Rate of pay is $6.95 per show. Reliable transportation is required. Chosen candidate will be subject to background investigation and review by Dowagiac’s Public Safety Director.
JOB OPENING – PATROL OFFICERS (Part-Time)
The City of Dowagiac is accepting applications for part-time positions for Patrol Officer at the Dowagiac Police Department. Applicants must possess officer certification in the State of Michigan; an Associate’s Degree in a related field; a valid driver’s license; good typing and communication skills; and have the ability to perform duties in numerous site locations and conditions. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To perform specialized police work in the investigation and detection of crime; to interrogate suspects, procures and preserves evidence, prepares detailed reports on case assignments and performs related work as required.
JOB OPENING – PART-TIME-ON-CALL FIRE FIGHTER
The City of Dowagiac is accepting applications for the part-time-on-call position of Fire Fighter at the Dowagiac Municipal Fire Department. Applicants must possess knowledge, skill and the ability to perform fire fighting work in the protection of life and property; the ability to operate and assist in maintaining fire equipment, apparatus and facilities; and to perform related work as required. Work is performed under the supervision of a superior officer. Reasonable knowledge of the geography, streets and principal locations within the City required. Valid Drivers License, State of Michigan Fire Fighter Level I Certification required or must obtain a Fire Fighter Level I Certification within 2 years of hire. Status: On-Call; hourly rate of pay: $8.00 FFII; $7.75 FFI; $7.40 without certification. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
