Finance Department

This area is responsible for the oversight of the City's finances, both day to day and long term. Under the direction of the Finance Director, the department develops and maintains accounting systems for all financial transactions in conformity with the City Charter, State law and generally accepted accounting principles.  The City's budget is prepared in accordance of the State Budgeting Act.

The City Manager and Finance Director are involved in all aspects of the City’s finances, including but not limtied to revenue forecasting, budget preparation and management, cash flow analysis, investment of idle funds, accounts payable and miscellaneous receivable, and utility rates analysises.

Accounts payable is a function of the Finance Department. The process  includes data input, reconciliation and procedures to ensure that supporting documentation and approvals are in compliance with City Charter and our internal controls.

In conjunction with the City's independent auditors, the finance director works to complete the annual audit and produce the City's annual financial statements.
