Workplace Violence Prevention Program
The Dowagiac Police Department is proud to offer our local businesses three different Workplace Violence Seminars. The first is designed for those in upper level management positions.

This seminar is approximately 2 hours long and focuses on why a person may become violent in the workplace as well as how to recognize behaviors associated with the problem. It also provides businesses with an outline of the services our police department provides and what they can expect from our department should a workplace violence situation arise.

The second program is a simplified version of the first for regular employees and should last about ½ hour. The third program focuses on how to deal with irate customers/clients and how to defuse potentially violent situations. This final program lasts approximately 1 hour.

For more information on these programs or to schedule one for your business, please contact either Officer Steve Grinnewald or Officer Dave Davis at (269) 782-9743.

Self-Defense Class for Women
Our Police Department offers the R.A.D (Rape Aggression Defense) program for women. It is a 9-hour course designed specifically for women to enhance their options of self-defense and prevent abduction.

2-3 classes are sponsored each year, but any group, organization, or business may set up their own private session.

For more information, please contact Officer Susan Worley at (269) 782-0914.

Children's Safety Programs
The following is a list of available safety programs for children. Most of these programs include handouts and/or a video presentation. To set up a presentation, please contact Officer Susan Worley at (269) 782-0914.

Neighborhood Watch
Our Police Department believes in working together with the citizens we serve to make our city a safer place to live. Neighborhood Watch meetings are designed to provide a forum for people to express their concerns and to learn about ways to make their neighborhoods safer.

Neighborhood Watch also provides home security surveys and information on drug awareness, crime prevention, and personal safety.

For more information, please contact Officer Susan Worley at (269) 782-0914.
