The Dowagiac Police Department is requesting assistance in solving
the following crime:
Crime Stoppers

August 6, 2005

Robbery at the Dowagiac Federal Credit Union

473 EAST DIVISION STREET DOWAGIAC MICHIGAN

At approx 11:20 am on Saturday August 6, 2005, a lone gunman entered the Dowagiac Area Federal Credit Union located in Dowagiac Michigan. There were 8 customers and 4 employees in the bank at the time of the robbery. The suspect walked into the lobby and paused for a moment before pulling a handgun from his waist and vaulting the teller counter.

The robber did not have a bag so he clutched the bank loot to his chest and vaulted the counter, exiting through the front door. A witness observed the robber cross Colby Street on the East side of the credit union into a wooded area.

The following is a description of the suspect: Race:White male Sex: Male Age:late 20s early 30s Height: 5ft9in to 5ft10in Wt: 180-200 lbs, Description: Red facial hair, Clothing: Camo baseball cap, Striped/tan shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes. Weapon: Small chrome/nickel pistol.
