Personal Property Taxes Tax Sale Information

Department Overview

The Assessor's Office is responsible for the valuation of properties for taxes. This office does not collect taxes. Each year, properties are assessed to provide a basis for tax bills. The value can be appealed in March at the Board of Review.

This office also administers the Principal Residential Exemption Affidavit or "homestead exemption." To apply for a homestead, the form can be obtained at the Assessor's Office or can be viewed at "Download Central". This form must be submitted by May 1st in order for the homestead to be effective for that tax year.

Assessment Notices

Each year, the City sends all property owners a "Notice of Change of Assessment" form, which indicates new valuations for each property. For further explanation, CLICK HERE.
