| Brush & Compost Waste Disposal Program |
March 24th through October 14th, 2008, City crews will schedule ongoing citywide curbside collection of brush/branches and leaves/grass clippings on alternating weeks. Beginning March 24, 2008, residents may take brush and/or yard waste (grass clippings and leaves) to the City compost site located behind Rotary Park. Compost Site Hours through November 2008:
Saturday - 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday - 6:00 p.m. until dusk
The entrance to the compost site is located south of the boulevard in Riverside Cemetery, which is at the east end of Hill Street.
The following requirements must be met for brush and yard debris pick-up:
1.) Limbs must be less than 8" in diameter and neatly stacked. Small limbs, branches and twigs must be placed in a container (bags, boxes or cans). No stumps or root-balls will be picked up.
The City reserves the right to exclude from pick-up those brush piles in which are extraordinary in size or volume. Residents may request pick-up of extraordinary-sized piles and may also be charged a fee for such service depending on the actual costs. For residents that have a private contractor perform any tree work, the resident shall make arrangements with the contractor for removal of all debris.
2.) All grass clippings or leaves MUST BE CONTAINED (bags, boxes or cans) and separated from limbs and twigs. No loose piles will be picked up!!
3.) Containers will be emptied by the City's crew onto the truck and left curbside to be re-used or properly disposed of by the resident.
4.) Materials for pick-up must be placed BEHIND THE CURB--not in the street.
5.) ABSOLUTELY NO building materials, machined lumber, root-balls, stones, trash, garbage, litter, or fecal material will be accepted or removed!! Violators will be subject to fines under the City's blight ordinance. If your yard debris has not been picked up or you have any questions in regards to the Brush Pick-up Program and/or the compost site, please contact Department of Public Services at 782-8200.

| City Manager Candidate Interviews |
The Dowagiac City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 for the purpose of conducting City Manager Candidate interviews. The Council will convene at 12:45 p.m. and interviews begin at 1:00 p.m. Four candidates are scheduled for interviews as follows: 1:00 p.m. Sean P. McBride 2:00 p.m. Deborah K. Nier 3:00 p.m. Lisa Sutterfield 4:00 p.m. Kevin P. Anderson The meeting is open to the public. |
